Evolution XR
JL Audio's expertise in long-excursion speaker design played a large
role in the development of the XR woofers. Linear (undistorted)
excursion is critical to the accurate reproduction of midbass and
the kind of real-world power handling necessary to faithfully reproduce
the most demanding recordings.
All Evolution XR models feature our exclusive programmable crossover
networks with premium polypropylene capacitors, air-core inductors and
electronic tweeter protection. The XR crossover networks also
feature between two and five positions of tweeter level adjustment.
Most models also feature our revolutionary mid-range presence
adjustment circuit for fine-tuning in-car system response.
The XR component tweeter can be surface mounted or installed with its
highly flexible RSR flush mounting system, ensuring optimum tweeter
aiming after installation. XR Coaxials feature a fixed
swivel angle tweeter with adjustable rotation.

The XR aluminum dome tweeter finally delivers on the promise of metal
dome technology. Unlike most metal dome tweeters, the XR dome is
suspended by a tiny rubber surround, which damps out ringing and
controls high-frequency response far better than the corrugated suspensions used in other metal dome designs. This approach results in a tweeter that excels in terms of extension,
while eradicating fatigue-inducing distortion and artificial sizzle. It
is a sound that is neither bright nor soft, it's simply real.
